House Blessing and Anointing

Last week before our official opening, our staff and board members gathered together to pray and consecrate our home to the Lord.  We prayed for each of the rooms in our home to be used for God’s glory and anointed the doors with oil.  Our hearts were overflowing with thankfulness for the provision of this home and for the healing and restoration that God will accomplish here.  These are the verses we included in our prayer time for each of the rooms.

Entry Doors

For each of the doors in our home and for all who enter and exit:

Deuteronomy 28:6
You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

Fitness Room

Our residents are required to work out as part of the program so that they may heal both spiritually and physically:

Hebrew 12:1

Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us

As our residents gather together to prepare and eat meals as a family:

Psalm 34:8
Taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8

Eat in Kitchen

Psalm 90:14

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Dining Room

The hard work of class instruction will happen here as well as gathering for meals with volunteers and visitors.  May the women always recognize:

John 1:16

From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

Laundry Room

As our residents are doing their laundry and folding their clothes may they remember:

Colossians 3:14
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Living Room

As they gather together in their down time may they bond and be filled with laughter:

Psalm 133:1
A song of ascents. Of David. How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

Storage Closet

Lord we thank you for blessings you have provided thus far and we trust that you will continue to supply all our needs.

Deuteronomy 28:12

“The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on

your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.”

As the women come down these stairs to begin their day and ascend them to end their day we pray they remember:

Proverbs 16:9

In his heart a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Master Closet

Lord we pray for the most important thing our residents put on each day:

Colossians 3:12

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Resident rooms

These rooms will host 4-6 residents and give them a safe place to sleep and call home.

We pray against night terrors and fear and that our residents will rest peacefully:

Zeph 3:17

The Lord your God is with you.  He is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you.  He will quiet you with his love.  He will rejoice over you with song.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Shift Worker Bedroom

Our home will be staffed 24 hours a day.  This is where our night workers will sleep during their shift of making sure the residents are safe each night.  For our night staff we pray that they always reflect the fruit of the Spirit:

Galatians 5:22–23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We pray for our residents to know their identity in you and that they are beautiful because they have been created in His image.

Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

1 Peter 3:3-4

It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from within you – the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. This beauty will never disappear and is worth much more to God.

Prayer Room

This is where a lot of the hard work of healing will take place as our residents work through their past struggles and push forward towards their new beginning.  All of this will be surrounded and covered in prayer.

Isaiah 43:19
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Managing a house with 4 -6 residents includes a lot of curriculum, workbooks and paperwork.  This office will house our Program Director who is responsible for working directly with our residents each day. For our Program Director we pray:

Colossians 3:23

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for human masters.
